Welcome to the next stage of onboarding with LoadMate - adding your caravan loads. This stage is very similar to when we added vehicle loads, but with a few added options for categorising loads along the length, width, and height of your caravan.
Adding Caravan Loads
You can start adding anything that has been included since your caravan's tare weight was measured. Remember, if you possess an accurate weight report from a weighbridge or mobile professional weight check that already includes any additions, accessories, or fixtures, there's no need to re-enter these loads.
Note on Weight Report Indexing
When you enter a weight report later, any loads linked to that report will be indexed. This means LoadMate will disregard the weights of these items in calculations and take the weight report as the accurate datum. This feature makes it possible to track net movements from the report onwards.
Tracking Net Movements
Here's where LoadMate truly stands out: tracking net movements from the weight report onwards. For instance, if you fit an awning to your caravan, and it was accounted for at the time of the weight report, LoadMate can accurately account for those changes if you later decide to remove or upgrade the awning. This makes it easy to track all changes since the weight report date. This same principle applies to items like water tanks, gas bottles, and more.
Adapting LoadMate to Your Needs
Whether you have a brand-new caravan or a caravan that has undergone professional weight checks, LoadMate adapts to your needs. You can account for each item individually, creating an accurate weight dashboard. Alternatively, you can focus on variable loads that may or may not be included, or loads that you wish to relocate within the caravan for better weight distribution.
Understanding Your Load Distribution
LoadMate allows you to gain a thorough understanding of your load distribution by enabling you to enter all your loads and accessories. While professional mobile weight checks offer great accuracy, they don't provide a clear picture of how additional loads are distributed along the length of your caravan. LoadMate fills this gap, aiding you in maintaining the ideal 60/40 load ratio.
LoadMate's Load Distribution Options
With LoadMate's automatic load distribution calculations, managing your loads becomes an effortless task. When you click on any load you have entered, LoadMate will instantly calculate various options for storing this item.
For instance, if you need to rebalance loads to reduce your Tow Ball download, LoadMate will show you the exact impact that moving a specific item will have. You can then use this information to decide on the best placement for the item to achieve optimal load distribution.
This feature is particularly helpful as it not only saves you the effort of manually calculating the impact of load movements but also allows you to make more informed decisions about load distribution in real-time. With LoadMate, you can work smarter, not harder, to maintain stability, compliance, and a safe towing experience.
Adding Loads From List or Scratch
Like the vehicle loads, you can choose from an extensive list of common accessories, luggage, and fixtures, each with an average weight. You also have the option to enter your loads from scratch.
The 'Exclude Loads' Option
Just like the passenger and vehicle loads addition screen, you have the option to exclude loads. This is particularly useful for items you're unsure of carrying on every trip.
Assistance finding Weights
You can also utilise OpenAI during this stage to help identify typical weights for any items you are adding. While it's best to use accurate weights, an approximate weight is better than no weight at all!
Attachments to Loads
This feature allows you to keep all your information and receipts in one place. You can add or delete attachments at any time, but remember, if you delete a load, the attachments go too. You can also add a picture to any loads for easy visual identification.
Longitudinal, Latitudinal, and Vertical Load Distribution
The key difference between the vehicle and caravan loads addition screen is that you now have options to categorise loads along the length (longitudinal), width (latitudinal), and height (vertical) of the caravan. While only the length categorisation is mandatory, we recommend taking the time to categorise these others too. It will help you greatly in ensuring that your caravan weights are distributed properly along the width, and that you're not top-heavy vertically.
Capturing All Your Major Loads and Accessories
Repeat this process for all major loads and accessories. For a more comfortable experience, LoadMate is also available on desktop. However, bear in mind that while LoadMate is built with Flutter, which is excellent for mobile applications, the user experience on the web isn't as good as a native website or desktop installed software.
Once you've captured all your loads, hit the 'continue onboarding' button in the bottom right. You can always return to this screen later.
Now we'll move on to the all-important aspect of adding your professional weight check reports.
